RULE 1 Number of Keepers & Duration
- Each manager can keep up to 2 players per season — 0, 1, or 2 is fine.
- A player can be kept for up to 2 consecutive years, not counting the year they were originally drafted.
Example — Trey drafts Justin Jefferson in 2022 → he can keep him in 2023 and 2024.
RULE 2 Draft Round & Keeper Penalties
- First-time keeper: kept in the same round he was drafted the previous year.
- Consecutive-year keeper: costs a 2-round penalty on top of that.
- If a kept player is traded, the new manager inherits the same penalty status and can still keep him for the remaining eligible years.
- First-round players are the exception: keeping a first-rounder in a following year always costs a full first-round pick (no escalating penalty needed — it's already the top).
Example — Gel drafts Travis Kelce in Round 10 (2021). 2022: keeps him at Round 10. 2023: keeps him at Round 8 (2-round penalty).
Example — Jaden drafts Ja'Marr Chase in Round 1. Keeping him any following year still costs a Round 1 pick.
RULE 3 Restrictions on First-Round Keepers
- No team can keep two first-round picks in the same season.
- If two keepers were originally drafted in the same round, the manager chooses which one gets pushed to an earlier round.
Example — Brody drafts Austin Ekeler (R1) and later trades for Tyreek Hill (also R1) — he can't keep both.
Example — Andrew wants to keep both Jaylen Waddle and Amon-Ra St. Brown, both original 5th-round picks. He can keep one at Round 4 and the other at Round 5.
RULE 4 Keeper Value Rules
- A keeper's cost is based on original draft capital, even if he was later cut and picked up off waivers by someone else.
- Players who were never drafted (waiver-wire adds) cost the manager's last pick — Round 17 — if kept.
Example — Tucker drafts Nick Chubb in Round 1, then drops him. Whoever picks him up still owes a Round 1 pick to keep him.
Example — Kyle picks up undrafted Jerome Ford off waivers. Keeping him next year costs his Round 17 pick.
DRAFT Draft Order
- Order is set by Toilet Bowl results (bottom 4) and playoff finish (top 6).
- Toilet Bowl (bottom 4): Toilet Bowl winner picks 1st among the four, then 2nd, 3rd, 4th-place finishers in order.
- Playoff teams (top 6): pick in inverse order of playoff finish, filling the remaining slots after Toilet Bowl teams have chosen. The champion automatically gets the last slot.
- Managers actively choose any open draft slot when it's their turn (it isn't assigned automatically).
TIMING Draft Order & Keeper Lock-In
- Draft order is finalized before keepers are declared.
- Keeper lock-in date is set a few days before the season starts.

- FLEX slots accept RB / WR / TE (double flex).

OPEN Unresolved / Up for a Vote
- In-person draft next year?
- Setting draft order via a combine-style gauntlet of activities instead of standings.
- Standardizing ESPN scoring on the Sleeper app.
Needs clarification: can a team keep two first-round players and just take them in Rounds 1 & 2? (Currently read as no — see Rule 3.)
Needs clarification: is the top-6 draft order inverse of final playoff finish or inverse of regular-season standings?
